About

Andrew Bunsell is a musician, composer and producer working across independent music, film and performance. His work encompasses solo releases, collaborative projects and commissioned work.

His work brings together composition, sound design, synthesis and performance, moving between recorded music, live performance, installation and collaborations with directors, artists and musicians.

He spent over a decade in London, where he was active within the independent music and arts scene as both an artist and organiser. His work has been presented internationally, including performances at the Barbican Centre and Café OTO in London, MALBA in Buenos Aires, and venues and institutions across Europe. Alongside his own releases, he has collaborated on a wide range of projects spanning performance, installation and film, with work released through Hands in the Dark and published by Mute.

In parallel to his artistic work, he has developed and led a number of artist-led initiatives and cultural platforms. He is the co-founder of Open Source, an organisation working across contemporary art, music and performance, alongside projects such as Dalston Music Festival, Open Sound and Dalston Studios, all rooted in building environments for collaboration and exchange.

He is interested in moments of transition, disorientation and heightened perception, where sound can hold emotional states that resist fixed meaning or language.

He currently works between independent releases under his own name, commissioned composition and sound work through Paralel Audio, and the development of long-form interdisciplinary projects including Infinite Body. Recent work includes original composition for the feature film Une Chimère, as well as performances and installations.
